Be sure to stop in for a day at the farm with the family, snack on roasted sweet corn, visit the farmer market and enjoy our animal land and attractions!
Just because summer is over does not mean it is time to put away your seeds or that planting and gardening season is over. There is still plenty of time to start a garden of cool weather, fast maturing vegetables like radishes and spinach or an herb like basil. If you plan according and plant quickly, vegetables like lettuce, beets, cabbage, kale and collard greens take a little longer to mature, but are known to survive cool temperatures to be harvested in fall still. Fall is also a great time to plant spring-blooming perennials, trees, and shrubs. Even though the air is cool in fall, the soil stays warm, giving plants and flowers an opportunity to develop their roots, plus there is still plenty of rain and the weather is generally more comfortable to work in compared to wet springs and hot summers. Be sure to come by our garden center to have one of our staff members help you select the best plants and flowers for the fall; it’s not too late to start your garden!
